Whimsicals - Cathy Thompson, Fiber Artist
A transplanted Connecticut Yankee by way of Lawrence University, Thompson is the creator behind Whimsicals and artist-in-residence at The Mill Boutique. As a fiber artist, she revels in yarns available from around the world. Thompson uses only natural fibers and blends with the exception of just a touch of nylon for extending the lifetime of hand made socks - Turkish socks that is. She is constantly knitting, felting, designing and studying the nature of garments from around the world and across time. From Avant Garde to Medieval, from simple elegance to unbelievably complex cables, her work celebrates the unique fibers which give her great joy as she knits.
