Peter J. Thiel, Watercolorist

Thiel's early interest in art orginated from teachings and observations of local artists. Degreed in engineering, his fascination with art continued after graduation. Influencing his style were great artists like Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth, and how they used the brush to communicate the beauty of common things which surround us every day. This inspiration compelled him to enroll in evening art classes, wherever they could be found. Thiel's watercolors not only depict scenes from different states and countries, many reflecting seasonal changes, they also unveil the hidden beauty of buildings, boats, and trees that display ages of stress and weathering. His work has been displayed in art shows next to paintings that capture the essence of those artists who continue to motivate him.
