Surrounded by traditional Thai art including functional pottery used for everyday tasks like storing rainwater or cooking rice, Haas developed an artistic sensibility as a child. Today her functional pottery uses contemporary forms but reflects the clear, graceful lines and deep, satisfying glazes of the pottery of her childhood. Haas's vases and sculptured pieces express a different aspect of her roots.
