Jim Fine - Acoustic Guitar & Vocals
Growing up in Appleton, WI, Fine began playing acoustic music while attending Appleton [West] High School. He honed his craft at the University of Wisconsin and Boston, MA before settling in Chicago in 1971. From the early eighties to the late 90s, Fine was the lead vocal and rhythm guitarist for The Mighty Fine String Band who had an eclectic repertoire of story songs, old rock 'n' roll, country favorites, and traditional folk music. Performing as a solo act for two years in Texas, Fine had the opportunity to meet a number of singer-songwriters before returning to the Chicago area. Among his musical influences are the likes of Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, James Taylor, Tom Russell, and John Prine.
