History
Established in 2004, the Atlas Mill was built in 1878, one of Kimberly-Clark's first papermaking facilities. Now home to Atlas Coffee Mill & Café; The Mill Boutique & Art Gallery; Paper Creations; and Stone Cottage Music Studio, Atlas Mill has become a hub for local artisans. Once again teeming with excitement, the mill pays tribute to leaders of the paper industry at Paper Discovery Center and Paper Industry International Hall of Fame.

"Appleton was born here on the riverfront; so in a sense, this is a symbol of rebirth," says Sue Bogenschutz, who owns Atlas Coffee Mill & Cafe, The Mill Boutique & Art Gallery, and Paper Creations with her husband, Larry.

Adjacent to the coffee shop and restaurant, the boutique and art gallery offers a wide selection of hand-woven textiles, jewelry, pottery, and other unique gift items created by more than 40 local artists. Many volunteer on a regular basis, teaching and sharing their passions with others.

Musicians also come to study harp and piano at Stone Cottage Music Studio.

Meet Business Owners, Larry and Sue Bogenschutz
Native Appletonians, Bogenschutz' historical appreciation stems from their familiarity with not only Appleton as a whole but also, specifically, the Appleton business community. Third owners of a circa 1895 home they lovingly restored, the couple operated The Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast from 1988 to 2000, before selling the business.

Printer by trade, in 1989 Larry also founded FED Specialties, a trade print shop specializing in foil stamping, embossing & die cutting.

Out of that, came Paper Creations, a retail paper arts store and International Home of Quilt-a-CardTM.

Both enjoy ballroom dancing and golfing. More importantly, they love to meet and serve people.
